Hotels In Dublin City Centre

All About Finding The Best Hotels in Dublin City Centre

Hotels in Dublin City Centre, and it's immediate environs, are, without a doubt, among the finest in Europe, if not the world. And, according to the Hotel Price Index, compiled by Hotels.com, they are also now among the cheapest in western Europe too; although average rates around the world actually rose by 2% since the start of 2010, finding cheap hotels in Dublin won't be a problem, as Dublin hotel room prices instead fell by 7%, to an average of just €73. (By the start of 2012, fall is expected to be closer to 10%, compared to the same period.)

Many impressive, ultra-modern hotels have been built in the area in the last 10 years, catering to all needs from budget hotel accommodation, to luxury 4 and 5 star hotels right in the heart of Dublin. Many of the 'old favourites' have kept up with the times too...

Like the Shelbourne Hotel: Originally built in 1824, this luxury 5-star hotel has been magnificently-restored in recent years. Situated right in the centre of Dublin, overlooking St. Stephen's Green, Europe's finest garden square, it is close to much of Dublin's major historic and cultural attractions, including the majestic St. Patrick's Cathedral; Trinity College, Ireland's oldest university and home to the ancient Book of Kells; and even the Guinness Storehouse, without which no visit to Dublin would be complete.

There's also the Burlington Hotel, a long-standing favourite of times past – and present. This superb 4-star hotel is just a short walk from Dublin city centre and, behind it's original exterior, lies an entirely refurbished lobby and luxury accommodation, as well as it's famous ballroom, the grand scale of which is unrivalled anywhere in Ireland.

A bit further out is Bewley’s Hotel, located beside the RDS Arena in Ballsbridge, Dublin's exclusive business district and embassy belt. This hotel operates from a beautifully-restored 19th century building, originally built as a Masonic School, and it's superb features have seen it become as popular with the locals as with visitors to the city.

Then there are nearby D4 hotels. Despite the name, there are actually only 3 of them: the Ballsbridge Inn, the Ballsbridge Towers or the D4 Berkeley. In case you were wondering, "D4" is a reference to the location of all 3 hotels: the Dublin 4 postcode address, one of the most prestigious in the entire city, mostly because it's close to just about everything Dublin has to offer: as well as being near the impressive sandy beaches along Dublin's coast, it's also close to the imposing Aviva Stadium, home to Ireland's national rugby and soccer teams; the RDS, home of the Annual Dublin Horse Show, the Leinster Rugby Team, Shamrock Rovers Football Club, and too many music and cultural events to count; the Grand Canal Theatre; the O2, a 14,000-seat amphitheatre that regularly plays host to many world-renowned performers; and the CCD, Ireland's new world-class purpose-built international conference and event venue. And it's just a short trip from there to the department stores of O'Connell Street, the boutique stores n Grafton Street, St. Stephens Green Shopping Centre, and all the other attractions in the heart of Dublin City.
